About Us

At Apricus Academy, we’ve spent years preparing, planning, and researching just how to reimagine education. We are on a mission to create a type of educational system where even the most vulnerable students can be successful.

The Problem

There is no debate that education needs an overhaul. Traditional education is an outdated, failed experiment, yet we continue to push forward. Schools are no longer a place where kids come solely to learn. Schools serve as daycares, mental health centers, food pantries, advocates for children, and educational centers.

Students sit in desks for six or more hours a day listening to the teacher drone on and on. Learning becomes boring and students become disinterested.

Apricus Academy is more than just a school. It is the beginning of a complete overhaul of the educational system.

The Solution

Our research-based curriculum takes Common Core Standards and overhauls them to better incorporate social, emotional, and physical development.

Students and families who may be struggling will have a support team to help them relax and regroup so they may continue to learn.

In addition, unlike other curriculum, ours can scale and is flexible enough to work in any demographic.

Community Partnerships

Our goal is to create community partnerships unlike what we’ve seen in other areas. Although schools try to do everything they can for their students, they are beholden to outdated infrastructure and bogged down with bureaucracy. We want to bridge the gap between families, communities, and children, in order to facilitate a more unified community. We know kids learn best when they have a strong support system.

Some of the partnerships we are working on include:

  • Financial literacy classes for adults
  • Food education for families / Cost saving mealtime information
  • Adult education classes
  • Parenting classes
  • Family wellness seminars
  • Community gardens
  • Partnerships with our local senior center
  • Partnerships with adults living with disabilities
  • And many more!

How we do it

Our methodology allows students of all ages to play, explore, experiment, and dive deeply into the things that interest them the most. Our pedagogy is fun for our students to learn and fun for the teachers to teach.

Many schools offer play-based programs for children under age 5. While these programs are fun, they don’t usually offer practical skills for students going into elementary school. When students begin elementary school however, they are required to sit at desks for extended periods of time. Students are not prepared for it and they struggle with the change.

Apricus Academy aims to keep students out of chairs for extended periods of time. Our goal is to keep kids and young adults engaged in the process of learning throughout high school.

For Educators

Teacher burnout is a real problem in America. Many of us are working so hard to provide a quality education for our students and yet, administrators are still asking for more. As a result, many educators are choosing to leave the profession all together.

Our goal is to bring the fun back into teaching. We want our educators to wake up and enjoy coming to work. You have chosen a life of service and we want you to know that you are appreciated with us.
